We’re supporting International Women’s Day.
We’re celebrating the women in our law firm. Having won the prestigious title of “the fastest growing female-led business” award in 2015, we’ve been working diligently to ensure the women in our firm are working to make a difference to society, themselves and the things they care about.
We work with an ethos to empower women. To help them achieve their goals and ambitions. The theme for International Women’s Day (8 March) this year, “Think Equal, Build Smart, Innovate for Change”, puts innovation by women and girls, for women and girls, at the heart of efforts to achieve gender equality. We’ve done a lot of work to help women in the society, including helping charities such as TDAS which predominantly is made up of women. We’ve also done work on gender equality in terms of the gender pay gap as it is also evident in the Law industry that it exists.
Here are some of the proud moments we’ve had as a female-led law firm in the last few months:
Managing Partner – Mariam Razzaq
Marium’s worked on a revolutionary ground-breaking case for a local boxer, Muhammed Ali, from Rochdale which made history…
Marium Razzaq went to Cardiff to represent Muhammad Ali and observed her legal argument being taken seriously. Ali became the first boxer in the country with diabetes to be granted a professional boxing licence. The British Boxing Board of Control has its own rules and regulations which apply to diabetics. One of which is that individuals with diabetes cannot become professional boxers. This was successfully overturned by JMR Solicitors, thanks to Marium Razzaq the BBBofC’s regulations have now changed which has opened doors for may diabetics wishing to turn into professional boxers.
Marium Razzaq, Solicitor and owner of JMR solicitors, told the press:
“I chose to represent the client as I thought it was discriminatory and unfair for the Board to prejudice individuals with conditions such as diabetes. By having this regulation changed it truly has made history in the world of British Boxing as individuals with diabetes who wish to become professional boxers will now be able to do so.
I feel honoured to be a part of the change in UK Boxing regulations as this really is revolutionary as it is the first time in history that a professional boxing licence has been given to an individual with diabetes.”
Paralegal – Bushra Amin
Bushra Amin started with JMR Solicitors in 2018 and had already achieved the most wonderful outcomes for our clients. The firm empowers its employees and really pushes them to achieve their goals. A highlight of her time with us so far, is a Probate matter that Bushra dealt with. She ensured she worked passionately to get her client the right outcome.
Bushra helped her female client challenge her husband’s will, where the father had
left his estate to his daughter. Bushra worked to prove the client’s entitlement and reasons why she needed to contest this were outlined eloquently. Bushra managed to obtain half of the estate worth £5 million, including other assets and personal possessions on behalf of the client which she was legally entitled to.
Paralegal – Sahira Gondal
Sahira has worked with JMR for many years and she is a respected member of staff. She has seen the firm grow throughout the years and been an integral part of that growth.
Sahira works in our family department and deals with cases which are of a sensitive and confidential nature.
She works with women who have been domestically abused emotionally and physically. She deals empathetically with all her clients. She has helped many individuals through traumatic, life changing experiences and we’re very proud of her being a part of JMR Solicitors!
Business Development Manager – Lindsay Potts
Lindsay has worked at JMR helping us develop areas of business that we feel can be improved. It’s been a pleasure working with someone so enthusiastic and driven. She has a bubbly personality, ideal for this role.
She is always arranging for us to meet with community members, attend events, arranging meetings with businesses and much more. Her work has contributed to a 5% increase in Q1 of 2019 in the business law area which we are super proud of.
We’re growing as a firm and Lindsay helps us build strong relationships with key members. Recently Lindsay arranged for JMR to meet and get involved with The Brain Charity, TDAS and Headway.
Marketing Manager – Saima Omar
Two years since we started working with Saima, and we can see the difference in how our brand has developed. She has worked to create brand awareness for JMR solicitors by helping us gain some PR exposure, maintains our content on the website, social media presence and helps with all other marketing of the company.
Working to help us build a brand where we can reach more exposure.
Recently her notable work involved a 50% increase in the search volume to our website which feeds into the way we generate client leads. She is a valued member of the team and nothing is too much for her. She excels in everything she does!
